When word first hit about Disney Infinity the similarities to Skylanders were pretty obvious. Both games use real-life figures to interact with the game, so it wasn’t surprised that people cried copycat when Disney showed off their new game. Disney Interactive executive producer John Vignocchi explains what sets Disney Infinity apart from Activision’s Skylanders series.
“There are similarities, in that we have figures, but the similarities stop there,” Vignocchi said. “Infinity is intended to be a platform for all things Disney. The playsets inside of Infinity are new and original stories. They are open-world games.”
Another thing about Disney Infinity that Vignocchi points out is the Toy Box mode, which lets gamers create whatever they want in the game world.
